Islam Past Present Future
Why another book on Islam? This is a shorty to help people who are too busy to read a larger book. I have tried to include only vital information and at the same time to give an overview that will help the reader understand the times in which we live. Islam is thin-skinned and does not tolerate criticism. The homosexuals, the women-libbers, the progressives. the media, and the talking heads are all so fearful of offending Islam and being labeled “islamaphobes” that they dare not speak out. Political correctness has silenced them. Those who dare to speak out are marginalized, accused of intolerance and hate-mongering. Whatever the risk, as a loyal American and a Bible-believing Christian, I intend to tell the truth.
Islam and the End Times
Radical Islam explodes around the world. Undoubtedly, this most surprising and significant event of the last fifty years has taken the West and Bible teachers by surprise. Prophecy teachers of note have taught that the fourth beast of Nebuchadnezzar’s image was Rome and the revived Roman Empire and European Union would be the empire of the Antichrist. Rome and Europe continue to weaken while Islamic countries intoxicate the nations with their oil and the religion of Islam. Muslims worldwide look for the Mahdi, their leader and Savior. Numerous similarities between the Muslim Mahdi and the Christian antichrist are startling. The Muslim Coalition of 57 nations will be the eighth and last empire. The last section of the book deals with the Islamization of America and how Christians are to respond.
Peril of Islam – Telling the Truth
After 9/11/2001 our president, the media, and academia outdid one another to proclaim Islam to be a peaceful religion. The author lived in a Muslim country for seventeen years and has been a student of Islam for fifty years. A brief historical study of Islam reveals that violence has been its nature from the beginning. The book gives a fair presentation of the faith and practice of Islam. Quotes from the spokespeople of Islam reveal that jihad, i.e., the spread of Islam throughout the world is their goal. Terrorists and Islamists are the norm; moderate Islam is an aberration.
Path to Truth and Freedom –
A Guide for Seekers of Truth
Truth leads to freedom and error leads to bondage. Important truths such as, Is the Bible the Word of God; the lie of evolution and the truth of the creator God; Is there really a God; the uniqueness of Jesus Christ; heaven and hell; why salvation is needed, how is it provided and how is it received; confessing Christ and believer’s baptism are laid out in simple language with ample Scripture verses. Vital truths concerning the church such as what is the church; when and where did it begin; marks of a true church, members and leaders responsibilities are spelled out. Lastly, what is God doing in the world anyway gives a bird’s eye view of God’s program. and the book ends with an earnest plea to choose truth and freedom instead of error and bondage.
Investing for Eternity—An Affirmation of the Faith Promise Program for the Local Church
The author has introduced Faith Promise giving to hundreds of churches with excellent results. In these pages he shows that the Faith Promise Program is scriptural, successful, systematic, and sound. By encouraging church members to prayerfully and purposefully determine to give a faith promise gift over and above their tithe, the missionary giving will increase without hurting local giving. All your questions will be answered by reading this thorough presentation of faith promise giving.
Perspectives on Evangelism —Encouraging Effective Evangelism
For those who have a heart for evangelism or for those who want to have a heart for evangelism this book is a must read. First, the book deals with the Historical perspective with vignettes of famous evangelists. Second, the 165 Biblical perspective deals with evangelism in the Old Testament, and denotes verses of evangelistic interest in the Synoptic Gospels, Gospel of John, Act of the Apostles, the Pauline epistles, the General epistles, the Johannine epistles, and the book of Revelation. Third, the Practical perspective deals with right motives, right procedures, and right programs for effective evangelism. Fourth, the Prophetical perspective looks ahead to the future of evangelism. Several well-known Christian leaders, including Dr. Bob Jones, Jr. write as to how they see the work of evangelism in the last days.
Preparing for the Conflict —Instructions from Peter
Here we have a verse-by-verse practical and devotional commentary. II Peter neatly outlines itself by chapters. Chapter one is LIVING PRECEPTS – PRESCRIPTION FOR HOLINESS that encourages believers to add seven character traits to their faith. Chapter two is LYING PROFESSORS – PRESERVATION FROM HELL that describes false teachers and predicts their final doom. Chapter three is LASTING PROMISES – PREPARATION FOR HEAVEN in which the believer is encouraged to remain steadfast and to grow in grace and knowledge.
The Great Omission—Fruit that Remains
This book is a primer on evangelizing and discipling. It deals with proclamation – sowing the seed; persuasion – reaping the harvest; and preservation – conserving the fruit. The dire importance of spiritual parenting is stressed. Those who desire to be effective in their work of reaching the lost and bringing them to maturity in Christ will be greatly helped by studying this book.
Tears to Joy—The Amazing Story of a People that Dared to Do Right
This book takes us back to beginning of the Independent Baptist movement. The majority of the North Rocky Mount Baptist Church voted to withdraw from the Southern Baptist Convention. A court case ensued in which the majority lost their building and property. This resulted in the formation of the Falls Road Baptist Church, which has been greatly blessed of the Lord for many years. Proteens (Positive Action for Teens) an organization that has helped hundreds of churches came out of this church.
New Carts or Old Paths
The Philistines used a new cart to send the Ark of the Covenant back to Israel. David, mimicked the Philistines idea, used a new cart to bring the Ark to Jerusalem. David’s failure to use God-ordained means to move the Ark to Jerusalem resulted in death and disaster.
This book, NEW CARTS OR OLD PATHS, is a “clarion call” to all Bible-believing preachers and churches to forsake the ‘new carts” and follow the “old paths.” What is happening within our churches? Is the modern-day signs and wonders movement truly from God? Have our Bible-believing ministries been adopting “new carts” that will ultimately bring confusion, death, and destruction to our churches and our beloved nation?
“New carts” discussed are the charismatic movement, contemporary rock music, the controversy over modern translations, hyper-Calvinism, and compromising lifestyles among God’s people. The author has more than forty years’ experience in local church ministry and the study of God’s Word. You may or may not agree with his assessment of evangelical Christianity today, but it would be well worth your time to read this thought-provoking book.
What others are saying about the book:
“Ignited Hearts is Jim Starr’s autobiography of God’s mandate and motivation to evangelize the 1040 Window through winning and equipping nationals. Read it and catch the vision.” Dr. Tony Miller, Pastor
“Jim Starr is a visionary with vigilance. He is not just a dream but a doer. It has been my privilege to travel to India with Jim and see his love for the Indian people and his passion to reach the lost multitudes for Jesus Christ. His new book Ignited Hearts flows from his own heart that is set on fire for God. Read this fine work and catch the vision and mission to impact India and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Evangelist Tom Farrell
“Ignited Hearts is the fruit of Dr. Jim Starr’s vision of reaching Southeast Asia with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After many years of praying, seeking God’s will, and gathering together an army of God’s people, the vision is being realized. Ignited Hearts is one man’s desire to stir God’s people not only in India, but wherever the Gospel is preached, to give themselves and their resources afresh and anew to accomplish this monumental task of evangelizing, discipling, and training God’s servants to reach India and unto the uttermost part of the earth. May this book set a flame in your hearts as you catch the vision that is commanded in God’s Word.” Pastor Jack Samargo
“Ignited Hearts, Unleashing the Power within Southeast Asia is a must read for every Indian Christian. Brother Jim rekindles the spirit of stupor on the part of relaxed Indian Christians…Jim Starr has caught the fire of the vision of God for India and the mission of reaching the unreached in India should be the burden of every Indian Christian.” Dr. Sam Buraga, BBC & Seminary, India
“…All of our brothers who love the truth must have Ignited Hearts. There are many lessons in this book that we can and MUST apply in our ministries context. May God use it to raise more laborers to His harvest.” Pastor Jefferson Quevedo Soares, Brazil
